6 Years of PCAN-Explorer 6

2022-06-17 • Version 6.6 of our professional software for the work with CAN and CAN FD buses


On June 9th 2016, the first release of the PCAN-Explorer 6 was made, comprising support for CAN FD. 6 years later, updates continue to be provided by us which also contain innovations every now and then. The updates are free of charge for licensees of the PCAN-Explorer 6.

Added in version 6.6 of the PCAN-Explorer is the support of special functions for development or verification purposes on the CAN bus:

  • Timestamp at Start-of-Frame (instead of End-of-Frame)
  • Self-Acknowledge when transmitting frames
  • Ignore FD frames with Bit Rate Switch (BRS)

The special functions require a PCAN driver with version 4.3.0 or higher, and the used CAN interface and its firmware version must support the functions.

The J1939 Add-in has received an update to the database, which and is now at 2022-05. Other add-ins have also received improvements. All changes are listed in the version histories (linked below).

Note that PCAN-Explorer 6.6 only works under Windows® 10 or 11. If you have an Internet connection, you can update PCAN-Explorer comfortably via the Help menu.
