2010-07-08 • Connecting CAN Buses with the New PCAN-Router Pro


PEAK-System introduces the PCAN-Router Pro linking the data traffic from up to four High-speed CAN buses. A virtual fifth CAN channel is used for recording data traffic to a CompactFlash card.

As well as pure forwarding, the CAN data can be processed, manipulated and, for example, filtered in a number of different ways. Various math and logic functions are available; characteristic curves can be created, too. The behavior of the PCAN-Router Pro can be freely configured using a Windows program. Completed configurations are then transferred onto the router via CAN.

The use in heterogeneous CAN networks is enabled by different CAN transceiver modules (High-speed, Low-speed, Single-wire CAN), which can be inserted on request for each CAN channel.

For energy saving the PCAN-Router Pro can be put into a sleep mode and reactivated by the wake-up function. There are three possibilities to do so: by CAN, by external line, or by the integrated, battery-buffered real-time clock.

The aluminum profile casing and the design based on an extended temperature range of -40 to +85 °C (-40 to +185 °F) allow the use of the PCAN-Router Pro also under rough conditions.
