The PCAN-Router DR from PEAK-System is a universal CAN converter, which forwards the CAN message traffic bi-directionally 1 to 1. It has two high-speed CAN channels with a bit rate of up to 1 Mbit/s. Due to the extended operating temperature range of -40 to 85 °C and the plastic casing for DIN rail mounting the PCAN-Router DR is suitable for use in industrial environments.
The bit rate of the two CAN channels can be set by a rotary switch on the front of the casing. The termination is separatly switchable for each CAN channel. The ports of the device are isolated against each other and against the power supply with at least 500 V. Furthermore, CAN 1 has a separation voltage of up to 5 kV conforming with IEC 60601-1.
LEDs indicate the status of the module, the two CAN channels and the power supply. Through a reset button, the unit can be restarted. The connection to the CAN bus and the power supply is made with 4-pole screw-terminal strips (Phoenix).
If necessary, the PCAN-Router DR can be operated with a custom firmware. There is a development package available to create the firmware.
