This is the version history of the PEAK-Trace Splitter. All improvements, bug fixes, and changes of the published software versions are listed. 

Software like PCAN-Explorer or PCAN-View uses the text-based file format *.trc from PEAK-System for recording CAN messages. Depending on several circumstances very large files can be generated that could be difficult to process further. The PEAK-Trace Splitter breaks large trace files down into smaller ones.

2025-08-21 - Version 2.0.0

Improvements:

  • Added an option to split buses
  • Added an option to filter messages
  • Added an option to start and/or stop the splitting process via a CAN ID trigger
  • Added support for user-defined info in the trace header
  • Added support for PCAN Trace file format 3.0 (CAN XL)

Improvements:

  • If it takes too long to collect trace file information, a progress bar is displayed. In addition, the scanning process can now be canceled

  • Fixed an issue where messages with a DLC of 0 and an emtpy data field caused the splitting process to stop
