AllowEchoFrames

This parameter allows / disallows the reception of Echo frames within a PCAN Channel, this is, the reception of frames sent by itself. This parameter doesn’t affect the acceptance filter of the PCAN Channel. Furthermore, other applications working with the same hardware can individually configure the reception of Echo frames.

  Note

Disabling the ReceiveStatus parameter also suppresses the reception of Echo frames.

Availability

It is available since PCAN-Basic version 4.6.0.

Supported By

  Important

Requires a device driver version equal to or greater than 4.3.0.

Access Mode

This parameter is read/write. It can be configured and retrieved.

Possible Values

This parameter can be activated or deactivated. Accepts values of type ParameterValueActivation.

Default Value

The default state of receiving Echo frames is Off. After switching it On, receiving Echo frames stays active until it is expressly deactivated, or the Channel is disconnected, i.e., using the Uninitialize method.

Initialization Status

Get: The PCAN Channel must be initialized before using this parameter.

Set: The PCAN Channel must be initialized before using this parameter.

Example

The following code shows how to enable receiving Echo frames on a USB Channel:

C#
PcanChannel channelUsed = PcanChannel.Usb01;

if (Api.Initialize(channelUsed, Bitrate.Pcan500) == PcanStatus.OK)
{
    if (Api.SetValue(channelUsed, PcanParameter.AllowEchoFrames, ParameterValue.Activation.On) == PcanStatus.OK)
        Console.WriteLine($"Receiving Echo frames on {channelUsed} has been successfully enabled.");
    else
        Console.WriteLine($"Error configuring the reception of Echo frames on channel {channelUsed}.");
    Api.Uninitialize(channelUsed);
}
