AllowErrorFrames

This parameter allows / disallows the reception of CAN Error frames within a PCAN Channel. This parameter doesn’t affect the acceptance filter of a PCAN Channel. Furthermore, other applications working with the same hardware can individually configure the reception of Error frames.

  Note

Disabling the ReceiveStatus parameter also suppresses the reception of Error frames.

Availability

It is available since PCAN-Basic version 4.2.0.

Supported By

Access Mode

This parameter is read/write. It can be configured and retrieved.

Possible Values

This parameter can be activated or deactivated. Accepts values of type ParameterValueActivation.

Default Value

The default state of receiving Error messages is Off. After switching it On, receiving Error frames stays active until it is expressly deactivated, or the Channel is disconnected, i.e., using the Uninitialize method.

Initialization Status

Get: The PCAN Channel must be initialized before using this parameter.

Set: The PCAN Channel must be initialized before using this parameter.

Example

The following code shows how to enable receiving Error frames on a USB Channel:

C#
PcanChannel channelUsed = PcanChannel.Usb01;

if (Api.Initialize(channelUsed, Bitrate.Pcan500) == PcanStatus.OK)
{
    if (Api.SetValue(channelUsed, PcanParameter.AllowErrorFrames, ParameterValue.Activation.On) == PcanStatus.OK)
        Console.WriteLine($"Receiving Error frames on {channelUsed} has been successfully enabled.");
    else
        Console.WriteLine($"Error configuring the reception of Error frames on channel {channelUsed}.");
    Api.Uninitialize(channelUsed);
}
