PCAN-Explorer 7.1: Update brings License Borrowing

PEAK’s latest CAN analysis software PCAN-Explorer 7.1 lets engineers borrow Floating Licenses for offline use and adds integrated trace format conversion plus updated HTML5-based documentation.

PCAN-Explorer 7 is our Windows software for monitoring, recording, transmitting, replaying, and analyzing CAN CC, CAN FD and CAN XL communication. With the latest update release to version 7.1, PE7 now provides License Borrowing for Floating Licenses. Engineers can now borrow a PCAN-Explorer 7 Floating License from the license server and use it offline for a defined period. This is useful when working outside the company network, for example during field tests, commissioning, service work, or test drives. With this feature, the already established Floating Licenses unveil their full potential enabling customers to flexibly use PE7 in any situation.

The borrowed license is stored locally on the computer or on a connected license dongle. During the borrowing period, PCAN-Explorer 7 can be used without a connection to the license server. The maximum borrowing period is 30 days, depending on the administrator settings.

PCAN-Explorer 7.1 also includes a free Trace Converter Add-in. It brings trace file format conversion directly into PCAN-Explorer and supports common formats such as ASC and MF4. Engineers can import and export individual trace data without switching to a separate conversion tool. Once more, PE7 steps in as useful all-in-one software.

Additionally, the built-in online help has also been updated. It is now provided as an HTML5-based help system and opens in the web browser. This makes the technical documentation even more accessible than before. The latest release of PCAN-Explorer 7.1 is available now as an update for PCAN-Explorer 7 users.
